One of the most beautiful things about this art is that it is so easy to let the external world slip away and become completely present with the tools in front of you. It is a practice in mindfulness and the slowness it requires can be addictive.
If you would like take some time to sit still and create something beautiful then join me in one of my workshops and learn the delicate art of paper cutting.
If you share my love for cities and the beautiful detail in buildings, then join me in this eight hour workshop inspired by my city architecture range of laser cuts.
You will discover the tools used and learn how to draw buildings in a way that allows for paper cutting. Working off photos and images we will look at the positive and negative space, creating a design where all lines are connected. You will learn how to draw and write in reverse and include the intricate detail in the buildings you choose to cut. We will be working on an A3 sized sheet of acid free, light resistant black Canson Mi-Teintse paper.
No experience in drawing or paper cutting is necessary.
Workshops are held in my bright and airy studio at PSAS, on Pakenham Street in Fremantle.
The environment is encouraging, fun and relaxed allowing you to work at your own pace, pop downstairs for a coffee at Studio 37 or take a walk around the block when your patience starts to dwindle.
This workshop is held every few months over two weekend mornings or two weekday evenings. If a date is not already advertised please email me on firstname.lastname@example.org to register your interest and I will be in touch about confirming a day that suits.
Workshops are limited to six people only so book sooner rather then later if you can.
All materials are provided along with a delicious morning tea or evening snacks.
Please bring along any ideas you have for inspiration. These may include images or photos of buildings or cities you love. You can also bring your laptop and access the wifi... And bring a friend if you like.
No experience is necessary but a little bit of patience is highly beneficial!
